Marina Kan Selvik is a Russian-born Norwegian classical pianist.
She is winner of several international piano competitions such as Clamo competition in Murcia,Spain; J.Vitols Competition in Riga,Latvia; German Piano Open in Hannover, Nordic Piano Competition in Malmo, Sweden; Munich Klavierpodium in Germany and Concours Piano a´ Mayenne, France.
Marina is regularly giving solo and chamber music concerts throughout Europe. She was selected among young Scandinavian musicians as soloist with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra (Conductor Rory MacDonald) and the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra (Conductor Lars-Thomas Holm). She has been soloist with Armenian State Orchestra, Lithuanian National Orchestra, Norwegian Radio Orchestra (Conductor Markus Lehtinen), Liepaja Symphony Orchestra (Conductor Gintaras Rinkevicius), Orquesta Sinfonica de la Region de Murcia (Conductor Gonzalo Berna Pic) and philharmonic orchestras in russian cities as Moscow, Volgograd, Ulyanovsk, Vladivostok, Murmansk and others. Marina performed Rachmaninov's Third Piano Concerto during the tour of the St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra in Russia, Finland and Norway, under conductor Alexander Titov with great success. She was participating at festivals such as Kyoto International Student Festival (Japan), Grieg Ciurlionis Festival (Lithuania), Bergen International Festival (Norway), Oslo Chamber Music Festival (Norway), Musical Chairs Festival Montreal (Canada), Vestlandsk Sommarsymfoni (Nordfjordeid Norway) , Eurasian Music Games Festival in Astana (Kazakstan) and Rodion Schedrin-Festival in Moscow (Russia).
Every summer she is invited to give solo recitals at Edvard Grieg Museum "Troldhaugen" (Bergen) with great acclaim and praise, where she also gave a special concert for Her Majesty Queen Sonja of Norway.
Graduated from Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory under Prof.Alexander Mndoyants followed by studies at
Norwegian Academy of Music under prof. Jens Harald Bratlie (piano),
Liv Glaser (hammerklavier), Are Sandbakken and Lars Anders Tomter (chamber music). Marina is currently studying solo piano at Royal Academy of Music in London in the class of professor Ian Fountain, receiving generous support from Ingar Dobloug Trust for her education. She also completed Artist diploma studies with prof.Aquiles Delle Vigne in Coimbra, Portugal. Being a versatile musician, Marina also holds Master Degree in Opera repetiteur from Norwegian Academy of Music with Tore Dingstad and Boris Schafer as her mentors. Always eager to find new perspectives in her music making, after receiving lessons in conducting with Sigmund Thorp in Oslo, she is taking Conducting course in London with Dominic Grier.
